  • Anything you put on your skin or hair — skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, sunscreen, deodorant, body care, and more. If it has a barcode or an INCI ingredient list, Glow can read it.
  • The safety score is a quick summary of how a product's ingredients stack up. Higher is better. Scores of 80+ are green (great), 60–79 are yellow (okay), 40–59 are orange (mediocre), and below 40 are red (avoid). Scores are generated from the actual ingredient list — not from brand or marketing.
  • Glow's product database is built on Open Beauty Facts — the world's largest open cosmetic ingredient database, with millions of products contributed by people in 150+ countries. Our safety scores draw on ingredient hazard guidance consistent with the EWG Skin Deep cosmetics database, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Health Canada, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Scores update as the underlying science evolves — they're never frozen.
  • 100%. Glow takes no advertising, no brand sponsorships, and no paid product placements. We don't take money from beauty brands, and we never highlight a product because someone paid us to. Our only revenue is from member subscriptions, which means our incentives are aligned with yours: tell you the truth about what's in the products you put on your skin.
  • During onboarding, Glow asks about skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive), known allergens (fragrance, nickel, lanolin, and more), and ingredients you want to avoid (parabens, sulfates, silicones, synthetic fragrance, alcohol). These personalize the warnings you see on every scan.
  • Yes. From the main scanner screen, open the Search overlay to look up beauty products or cosmetic ingredients by name.
  • Yes. Every scan is saved on your device so you can revisit it later. You can bookmark scans you want to keep, delete individual entries, or wipe all non-bookmarked history at once from the History screen.
  • You'll see a “Not in Our Database” screen with a button to switch to Label Scanner. Take a photo of the ingredient list and Glow's AI will read the label directly from the package — no barcode needed.
  • Glow is built around the principle that what you scan is your business, not ours. We don't sell your data, we don't share your scan history with brands, and we don't show third-party ads. Read the full Privacy Policy.
  • Yes — every new Glow subscriber gets a free trial. You can cancel anytime during the trial and you won't be charged. After the trial ends, your subscription bills automatically through your Apple ID.
  • Unlimited barcode and ingredient-label scans, full ingredient breakdowns with safety scores, scan history with bookmarks, and product search across millions of beauty products.
  • Yes — Glow supports Family Sharing. Subscribe once and everyone in your Family Sharing group gets the full experience at no extra cost.
  • Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancellation happens in iOS: open Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → tap Glow → Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • On the Glow paywall, tap Restore at the bottom. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the original purchase, and your subscription will reactivate instantly.
  • Signing in (with Apple or with an email one-time code) lets your subscription, scan history, and skin preferences follow you across every device you use Glow on. It only takes a tap and we never ask for a password.
  • Glow needs camera access to scan barcodes and ingredient labels. If you previously declined, tap Open Settings on the Camera Access screen — it deep-links straight to Glow's entry in iOS Settings, where you can flip the Camera toggle on.
  • Yes. Glow runs on both iPhone and iPad. The interface adapts to larger screens automatically.
